The Tree
Christ's woody witness

Trees tell us much about their Creator. In them, we see God's strength. His patience radiates in their slow, steady growth; His beauty, in the rich color of their wood; His faithfulness in the gentle care He gives trees year after year.

Knots in wood are caused by branches growing out of the tree trunk.
It is possible to estimate the age of a tree by counting its annual rings. How old do you think this tree is?
Find the answer on the kids' fun page about trees!

Tree rings represent spring and summer growth. A tree does not grow in the fall or winter.

Most trees increase in girth (circumference) one inch each year. If a tree is 3 feet around (one meter) it is approximately 36 years old.

The straightest trees, those with the fewest knots, are trees grown close to other trees, together in a grove!
How should we then live?
