Under Christ's Wings

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God, in whom I trust." Surely He will save you from the fowler's snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart (Psalm 91:1-4).

This week, many people of our planet will be observing "Earth Day" (April 22). Concurrent with this celebration of Earth is the much-anticipated release of the Disney film of the same name, "Earth."

I recommend that you see "Earth" at the theater. And I implore you to ask yourself one simple question while you are enjoying the truly breath-taking scenery and all the creatures featured in the movie... "Who created all these?"

"The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands (Genesis 9:2).

Occasionally Christ will allow us to come into close contact with His creation. In this way, He sweetly demonstrates that He truly is the Prince of Peace. What a foretaste of Heaven!

"When man was made perfect, and placed in a perfect world, where all things were in perfect order, the whole creation was then man's book, in which he was to read the nature and will of his great Creator. Every creature had the name of God so legibly engraven on it, that man might run and read it. He could not open his eyes, but he might see some image of God; but no where so fully and lively as in himself. It was, therefore, his work to study the whole volume of nature, but first and most to study himself.

Your name and renown are the desire of our hearts (Isaiah 26:8b).

This is a photo of a thawing Colorado pond (taken March 2, 2009). It may lack summer green, but it should remind us that our Lord Jesus is very faithful and He reveals His faithfulness throughout creation in so many wonderful ways.

It won't be long before the air above this pond will be filled with dancing dragonflies and the winsome sounds of Western Chorus frogs bringing glory to their amazing Creator!

Death Valley is the hottest and driest place in North America — it can reach a seering 130° F (54 °C) in summer. (The ground temperature hit a record 201° F at Furnace Creek on July 15, 1972.) And average rainfall is less than two inches (5 cm) a year!

Despite the incredible harshness of this environment, our Lord Jesus has sown and maintains over 1000 plant species in this inhospitable desert. Death Valley is also the home for 51 species of native mammals, 307 species of birds, 36 species of reptiles, three species of amphibians, and five species fish.

A CHALLENGE TO THE GREEN MOVEMENT Those who are sincerely concerned about the problems of pollution and the health of our planet need to seriously consider the following: "There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land. There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. Because of this the land mourns, and all who live in it waste away; the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the fish of the sea are dying" (Hosea 4:1b-3).

Who can doubt the sweetness of our God?... He made Rupert! Rupert clearly reflects Jesus' delightful character as our Creator!

"This tiny deer was delivered by Caesarean section at a wildlife hospital after his mother was killed by a car.  Little Rupert, who is so small he can fit in an adult's hand, was born after vets failed in their battle to save his mother."
