History Being Made Tonight!

This evening, something very exciting is taking place in the world of astronomy and space science. The New Horizons spacecraft (the same spacecraft that took stunning photos of Pluto in 2015) will be flying by a faraway object in the Kuiper Belt, nicknamed Ultima Thule (TOO - lee) at 10:33 P.M. MST / 12:33 A.M. EST. Though much smaller than Pluto, Ultima Thule (considered a minor planet) has the science community abuzz because it is also the most distant object we have ever explored up close — 4 billion miles (6.5 billion km) from Earth! You can watch live coverage of the historic flyby on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljk8Wc_MnyA&t=2s

Our Lord's lovingkindness is clearly revealed throughout the universe (Psalm 136:5). And although Ultima Thule is a tiny object compared to the stars, it is, nonetheless, something that our Lord Jesus Christ has crafted. Might it reflect His beauty (Psalm 27:4)? Might Ultima Thule resound His wisdom or power (1 Corinthians 1:24) in some special way?

God commands us to seek His face, and an ever-increasing knowledge of His glory and character (Hosea 6:3).
When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You,
“Your face, O Lord, I shall seek” (Psalm 27:8).
Why does He command us to seek His face?
"That you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9)!

If you have time, please watch tonight as history is made. You may not agree with some of the conclusions of the scientists regarding the origin of Ultima Thule, but let us keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus by enjoying the things He has created for the glory of our Triune God!
